It looks like they are racing dump trucks. I had never seen those kinds of vehicles before.

I had a buddy in college who was always talking about UAZ trucks from Russia- pretty neat looking rigs.

I think dakar is where Mitsu has decided to put its motorsports sponsorship money. None of the other brands seem to be overly interested in it. A good move for Mitsu.

Yeah, the trucks are totally bad- imho and their tires look like hugh 44's or something. I'd hate to change those tires.

With the exception of maybe VW! The race toureg's are pretty decent but just don't have the long term reliability of the Pajero EVO but then again we seem to go though alot of clutches!

I wouldn't mind seeing Robbie Gordon do well. It might bring more awareness of the event here to the US. I've read about / see a few drivers who've raced the Baja 500/1000 and said it was a picnic versus the Dakar. The Baja 500/1000 isn't even in the same neighborhood much less same league as the Dakar.

I've been watching it almost everyday at lunch.

Even though the primary race Mitsu is their Pajero EVO, they also have alot of Pajero III's & Triton pickup's racing. I'm surprised there are no Sports being raced even though they have the same powerplant & drivetrain as the Monty/Paj.
