Coilovers are by far the least cheap option. If you want cheap, 70's Wagoneer D44 and leaf springs from the same vehicle is about as cheap as you can go. A leaf-sprung setup is also the 'easiest' to design because the leaves both locate the axle and act as springs. Using coils, coilovers, or air shocks will require designing and buildin some kind of linked suspension... and that takes a lot more know-how to do correctly. I'd really encourage you to read through as many past threads on this as you can. If you're asking what coilovers entail, then you're a lot of research away from actually building anything. That is not meant as a slam, its just the truth of the matter that this is a big project and spending some hours reading the experiences of those who have come before you can only serve to improve your final product. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/kewl.gif" alt="" />
