Toyota dealer software anyone? Also for Nissan... #78166 03/14/03 10:29 PM

I have managed to buy for $50 the original program that the dealers use for searching parts and part numbers. You just type your VIN number and your car pops out, with all the info, explodeed views, search options etc. The program comes on THREE CDs and weighs over 1GB. Anyone interested in this? If anyone has free space I can ftp it. The software is for all Toyota models until 2000 (I guess).

I simply got furious once at the dealer. They are just complete morons and have almost no idea about cars and car parts. I told them that I wanted to buy the program from them in order to search for the problem myself, provide them with part numbers and buy the necessary parts. They didn't want to sell me the program, so I had to find it myself. It's just so stupid that you want to leave people some cash and they say 'no'. Then you pay someone else instead, and the dealer is all angry...

Anyway... I will also get the Toyota repair software (with all the diagnosis and repair procedures) as soon as I save some cash. Throwing another 50 or 70 bucks is really a lot for me. With the current crisis in my country I earn $300 a month, funny huh?

So if anyone is eager to provide 1GB of space for upload, just post the address.

I welcome <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="images/icons/grin.gif" /> big cash <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="images/icons/grin.gif" /> donations from those who find the program useful <img border="0" alt="[Drunk]" title="" src="graemlins/drunk.gif" />

I can host it for you if you want. If you want to up it to my ftp I will make it available to anyone here that wants to download it. My ftp is usually up 24/7 so it'd be no big deal if someone with dial-up took 2 months to download it.

OK, I have received some PMs from people interested. First of all I would like to have some VINs from you (all sorts of years and options) so that I could check if USA-made trucks are in the database (I guess those have VINs beginning with 4T, as opposed to the Japanese JT). As soon as I make such checks, I will give the results, and if they are optimistic, then I will set the upload etc.
As far as I have checked, the program is for DOS and OS2 systems. It also works fine under win200 (DOS window) but the printing function is impaired (you can always PrintScreen and paste onto Photoshop). The situation should be better for win98 users, but I don't know about winXP.

That's about it. It's 1 a.m. so I will go to sleep, meanwhile you can give me them VINs for a check.
