OK today I am not as excited as yesterday (no trembling hands and stuff...), so I have more time to evaluate the program. I have found the windows installer so the program works normally under windows without any problems (at least on win2000). All the functions work, all the diagrams print out easily etc. The program is for models until 06.1999 but I have checked one model from 2000 and still no problem (they can't have changed much in parts and part numbers, it's a 3rd.gen. after all). All the files weigh 500MB after zipping. The installation program allows to copy the files onto the harddisk to eliminate fussing with CDs (but one set of CDs needs to be made in order to install the program). I am currently uploading the program to http://ftp.lawvision.net as I had no problems with that server. My transfer is 13kb/s at maximum so it will take me some 10-15 hours to upload (I use much of the bandwidth for my regular browsing and P2P software so the real traffic is around 6kb/s). Do not visit the server until I give you the information that the file is uploaded, otherwise you may be downloading a non-functioning (unfinished)zip file.

Well... I just wanted to share ASAP so I chose the server that connects me most easily. But if you will feel bad about not getting the program from me, then I can also send you the stuff as soon as I finish the current upload. Just don't be angry with me

No need for you to sit there with you computer uploading the same thing to different places.
As long as the rest of us have access to it on the FTP server, we can all download it.
Keep us updated!
Thanks!
Todd

MikePL: Any chance you could set up a Paypal account or something of it's ilk for yourself in Poland? Would you have access to something like that? I am not sure if there would be currency restrictions etc. in force. I am sure others beside myself would not mind using Paypal to send you "big cash donations from those who find the program useful"

I was actually kidding about that cash. I can't take cash from forum fellows, that would be morally questionable . But I guess that as soon as I get my hands on the Toyota repair software, I will think twice, because it's going to be quite expensive.
I have an account in an Internet bank so all this international transfer stuff should be no problem. But that's a future thing, first you have to download the program and see if it's of any use.

I'll just add that I've got the pre-95 version (like on the yankee toys site) working just fine on a WinXP (pro) computer. This was after a little wrangling trying to get a partition small enough for the program to recognize and load onto.

Anything more happened with this venture?

You probably want to use some sort of FTP software, but IE should be able to d/l the files. Use the following information:

Server: ftp.lawvision.net
User: upload
Pass: upload

I haven't had a chance to try out the files yet (stupid DSL @ home), but there are two different file types that are on the server. First, there's the regular .zip files that need to be unzipped and put in the appropriate places (There's a file called install.txt that explains it all.) There are also .iso files that are ready to be burned directly to a CD. Hopefully this works for everyone. Good Luck!

As soon as anyone of you downloads the files and makes a successful install, please let everyone know that the files are OK.

I am currently happily exploring the possibilities of the program. There are a few nice functions. For example I can write down part numbers and see whether other Toyota models use them. This is especially good for sensors . For example I have a troublesome knock sensor, and I've found out that Celica has the same sensor (which is going to be easier to get that a 4runner one). I am currently trying to get the repair software.

Happy downloading and sharing.

Mike
