Getting the Wheeling Fever
Well. New cam, dist, oil pump, dist cap, roto button. Everything went in great... Started it and it ran, but ZERO oil pressure..

Thoughts?

Engine seemed really tight too.

The oil pump may need to be primed. I'd pull the distributor and rig a suitable driver for the oil pump that I could turn with a drill. Make sure you turn it the right direction if you try this. If there is no oil in the pump it will spin fast when/if it picks up oil you'll know it. Also if there is zero oil pressure the lifters will make a hell of a racket, are they? or are you just going by a bad or disconnected gauge? Did you install new bearings with the cam? Use assembly lube?

I use a long common screwdriver that has the handle cut off to prime the pump. Stick it in a drill and it will prime with in a few seconds.

Just checking, The new cam should have spun freely when it was installed, I hope your perceived engine stiffness is due to cold weather combined with maybe a weak battery? Good luck!

Primeing it will also pump up the lifters and fill the ones that are under spring pressure. After primeing it you should have lots less clacking and then in a few seconds all the clacking should stop after starting it.

Priming worked like a charm.. Engine sounds strong.. Haven't got it on the road yet, but i'm looking forward to it. Work is getting in the way of finishing it up
