Guys, guys!! It's the same as the Ford/Chevy argument. I like to summarize that as "Dodge, built Ford tough with Chevy parts" and since I drive a Mitsubishi Dodge, it's almost absolutely true. Take the Aussie's and New Zealanders, they replace the drivetrain in Jeeps with locally available parts. TheSewdish guys use bottle fed big blocks with Volvo/Puch/Sachs portal axles or Unimog pieces. We aren't the only folks practicing modification to 'make' our vehicles suitable for the terrain we like to traverse.
I like the Raider because it is bigger than a Samurai and smaller than a Ramcharger. I would own either if these other vehicles, but my Raider is a daily driver that holds almost everything I need for work on that daily basis. I do need a 1-ton 4x4 service truck though, that way I can have the Dana 60/70 combo with big 36" tires and a healthy big block that sucks gas but holds ALL my tools and can tow the Raider at the same time. My 4x4 use, obviously, is work related.
I'd swap my red 87 Montero and $$ for front/rear sets of 4-cylinder 5.29 gears, that way I could set the Raider up to go offroading with the 33s on trails that 4xMonty would like to see me on. Still, the Raider would be my daily driver, work truck, and fun truck.
