I learned from an autocrosser running SCCA stuff. Sometimes it doesn't matter the car you drive. This guy had a stroked Austin Healey Sprite, little car about 1500 pounds, 130hp, stick and a 440-six pack Satellite, big gigantor car. He'd run them at similar times through the slalom, but the Satellite was always a little faster.

One of my favorite pictures of a solid axle 4x4 involves traversing a trench deep enough that I could not see over the sides. The 4x4 still has all tires planted and the body is level to the ground surface. The photo was near Truckhaven Hills, the trench was a 6-foot deep strom drain canal, and the vehicle was a 1978 CJ-5 with super flexy suspension and 35" tires on 1-ton axles. One of our Forum member bought a prepared Toyota truck, in much the same fashion, because the cost/time of fixing a Montero to handle the same terrain was unsuitable to his needs. No problem here. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
