Need a Spot
The classic question:

What is the max tire size that will work on a stock '05 Tundra Access Cab 4WD??

...with stock 16: steel rims. ...with NO rubbing

Willing to switch to basic steel rims with a different backspacing if that is needed.

This is for a daily-driver rig with occasional mild wheeling. My lifted '95 Taco is my wheeling rig of the past 10 years, but the Tundra is new to me.

TIA

Body Damage is Cool
Crickets churping in the background...( <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif" alt="" />) What size tires are you working with now? As far as backspacing goes usually the stock aluminum rims youve got now have more to offer than a steel wheel. Id go with a 265/70R16 (TRD size tires), or a 265/75R16...a 285 would look great but would need some lift in front.

My dad has 265x75R16's on the stock steelies on his '03 Access Cab, they fit fine no rubbing or anything like that

My understanding is that is about as big as you can go on the Tundra's before you start needing lift for tire clearance.

That would be my guess as well. Like I said they fit fine and don't rub at all offroad (my dad's work truck, it sees pretty rough conditions at least 4 days a week) With 285's I would imagine that you would run into some rubbing issues and would need a 2" lift to clear things
