I have the chance to buy a 1995 toyota land cruiser -Black 130k miles. In very nice shape -florida truck. Asking $6500. Is this a pretty good deal? I'm trying to find something to replace my monty. This has been a good truck and a tough thing to replace.Any advice?

That is an excellent price! If it has lockers, it's a fantastic price!
Of course, it depends on the usual suspects - maintenance history, repairs, accidents, yada yada. If it checks out, grab it.

Actually price is $6990. If it's still there next week I may go check it out. I have to drive 3 hours to look at it.

Well I went and checked it out with High hopes. Well It was dead as dead could be. Had to be jumped. The paint was badly faded from the florida sun. The interior was also. The engine was "externally lubricated" with a thick coat of oil. It did have the front and rear locker which both did not work. When truck was put into drive it had some sort of horrible vibration. Needless to say I did not buy. I am still looking. Do these inline sixes hold up to high miles well?

The 4.5L I-6 does hold up extremely well. The engine was designed for durability and longevity in harsh conditions - the typical suburban soccer mom was not the design goal. Rather, use in Oz, Africa, South America was the target - so torque is available down low, redline is low, mpg is low. Some of the engines have had HG failures, but you'll have to spend a lot of time searching to find examples of bottom-end failure.
You won't go anywhere particularly quickly or inexpensively, but you will get to your destination.
190k on mine and it is very quiet and smooth and uses virtually no oil every 5k miles.

For that kind of money, I'd get a more fuel-efficient truck and add a few upgrades in, too. _________________ 2005 Toyota Tundra Accesorios - Tundra 4x2 06 Catalog by Toyota Motors
