JUST KIDDING!!!!!

there are 2 kinds of people (besides law enforcement) that carry concealed: criminals and those lucky enough to get the CCW license before the leftist, liberal government stopped it.

lemme add, in kalifornia, only politicians and celebrities can get them. not the regular joe...

as for weight, about a pound, pound and half if you carry 2 spare mags.

as for shooting in self defense, this is the LAST RESORT. in fact, in kalifornia, the states say, you cannot shoot someone who has stole for your house and is running away from you.

make sure you get the laws in your state, and in your city/county, on when to shoot or not. even if you think you might be shooting in self defense, you might be getting into hot water...

for example, in a gun forum, i read where the dude was actually in a shoot-or-be-killed situation. he killed the bad guy, but because it was a white vs minority case, and the local politician was a minority, the DA wasnt even going to bring up charges.

but the the politician forced the DA to charge the guy. even though he was found not guilty, lawyer fees came to around $18 grand...

You can buy a good handgun anywhere from $400 - $1000. Ruger handguns are usually the cheapest guns that have acceptable quality. Any cheaper than that for a handgun and you're getting into unreliable and uncomfortable performance. Cheap guns built by AMT, Jennings/Bryco, Hi-Point, etc. are some examples of cheap and unreliable / uncomfortable weapons.

Although, if I were a poor man, I wouldn't hesitate to buy one of the cheap guns. A cheap uncomfortable gun in the hand is better than none, because you'll at least have some sort of defense. But if you have enough money, you should definitely get a more reputable model, such as a Kimber, Springfield, Sig, Glock, HK etc.

If you're looking for home defense, you can't beat a 20"-barrelled 12 gauge pump or semi auto. They'll run about the same amount as the handgun, but with far more devastating firepower. It's much harder to miss your target when using shotshells.

Look in Shotgun News, Gunbroker.com, Gunsamerica.com, etc., and go to gun shows for good deals on used guns. Guns last a long time so a used gun is usually just as good as a new one but are much cheaper.

Sad day when it comes to this.
This is why we law abiding citizens need to get out to vote.

I carry mine in a holster between the console and the driver's seat. Very accesable and stays put.

hey AZRain-

A "driving" holster is a good idea- it's rather difficult to get to a sidearm under a seatbelt. One option is to carry in a but forward left side crossdraw. Kirpatrick Leather offers one-

Also, check out one of the kydex holsters (Uncle Mikes, Fobus, MAd DoG) and look for a spot to mount it permanently w/ screws. They are extremely retentive, require no strap, are very durable, and, since they are stiff, make re-holstering easy.

So if you are able to drive away from a threat, but you shoot anyways and kill someone, you'll be charged with voluntary manslaughter. The only time this rule doesn't apply is in your own home, it's known as the Castle Doctrine.

If it is truly your absolute last resort and you shoot someone, ideally you shouldn't be charged with anything. But you might just have to decide whats worse -- the possibility of a jail term, or the possibility of you or a loved one being killed.

Luckily, everyone I know who carries is very clear headed. In the state of Florida, nobody holding a CCW has ever been convicted of injuring or killing someone with a gun.

How long is the CCW course in FL? 4 hours? I don't think thats enough time to become familiar iwth the weapon and the laws.

Yeah, I think a left handed Kydex holster fastened between the console and driver's seat is a great idea, I just might try that. I know there are some vendors that offer a desert colored Kydex which would match my tan interior perfectly. It is definitly a PITA to unholster an IWB weapon with your seatbelt on.

The only proficiency requirement is proof via an NRA certificate, prior LEO experience, or US Military experience (which isn't much for us Air Force folk). It is up to the individual to become familiar with the laws. Then there is also the obligatory FBI fingerprint check and criminal history. Since Florida is a "shall-issue" state, if you meet the requirements and want one....you will be get a CCW. People have lost their permits for being stupid like displaying their weapon at the wrong time, but no one has been charged with shooting someone at the wrong time.

Thank God he was carrying his own handgun and killed the guy. Otherwise, he would have taken the truck and killed God only knows how many more people.
