My altenator just gave up and a rebuilt is going for $265 Canadian. Does anyone know if alts in 88,89 etc camrys, celica are 60 amps. The only difference I see when I went to the wrecker was from 88 on they were serpentine pulleys and on some units the wire plug was oval. My 87 has a v-belt pulley and the plug is round. Question-can I just change pulleys aqround and in terms of the wiring can I change the wiring plug. I just want to get through winter and in the spring try to put in a large amp alt from a North American vehicle. Judging by past posts I'm not hearing good things about the Nippo Alts.
