try it sometimes, with an unloaded weapon.

IDPA actually doesnt allow this in their competitions. and some of their stages require starting with seated in a car...

the reason is it called CONCEALED CARRY WEAPON is just that.

in kalif, it's against the law just to make certain gestures with your handgun.

i guess it stems from all those stupid freeway shootings and crap.

yes, there are stupid people with CCWs. if you read stories at www.packing.org, there's a story from a guy in calif, who's been trying to get his CCW, and he give an instance of someone who got his because he had some political connection and was abusing it:

Sad day when it comes to this.
This is why we law abiding citizens need to get out to vote.

I carry mine in a holster between the console and the driver's seat. Very accesable and stays put.

Lets be realistic you get shot when you get too brave. First off, when someone gets the drop on you, as Tony Soprano would say, FUGGETTABOUTIT. No way your gonna draw on a guy with a gun. I dont care if you have it mounted right on the dash. No way, Try it with a friend and I guarantee you he says bang b4 you even reach for it. Next up I know you guys cant be leaving it in the car under the seat? Thats got to be the most stupidest thing I ever heard!! Ok your in the Supermarket and someone breaks into your car now hes got a gun!! That will get a cop a big time suspension or even loss of job! Respect your gun and never let it be anywhere you aint!! Dixie I know your a cop and Im sure you have great judgement but for all you guys out there a gun is a great responsibility. You just cant shoot people cuz they challenge you. Some people get real big with a gun and thats what gets you tried by 12 and usually puts you in financial ruin!!!!! Remember this, if you can get away do it, using the gun should be a last resort otherwise you may find yourself defending a million dollar law suit and maybe get jail time. Just remember that its all how you articulate the scenario. See a weapon, draw a weapon and you should be ok, but never elevate more force than your oponent otherwise they will say you were the aggressor.
Good luck guys and be safe!!!

I heard a loud noise last night that woke me up from my sleep. Reached over to the nightstand and picked up my 9mm. No lights, grabbed my cell phone which is also on the nightstand. Walked around the house slowly listening. Didn't hear anything in or out for a couple minutes. Went to the garage and found my bender fell over onto the floor. I was happy and went back to bed. It's better to be a little cautious than dead.

For those who have to ask about guns, we're not all paranoid freaks, but if it goes down we are ready. I own two, and no I don't have any suggestions for your interior mount question. I have one with me most of the time, thank God for AZ's liberal gun laws. I carry mine in the center console of my Runner when wheeling with 20 rounds. A 40 cal shouldn't be hard to hide in the glove box unless it's full, just be sure to inform officer friendly if you get pulled over. Honesty and a little awareness of your surroundings will go a long way.

I personally would just keep it within hands reach between the seat and console (about the only place on a third gen) and not worry too much.
