cheak the FSM it will tell you how long the chain should be. i know that if it is a first gen block (83 or earlier) it is shorter than the earlier blocks, and the diffrence in the timing chain is going to be one link with a earlier head on the later block.

just cheak the chain length and if it was run out of oil than make sure the tensioner is still good as that is a oil pressure tensioner and who knows if it is still working after not having any oil.

if you can i would cheak the bearings too because of the no oil thing. that is the main killer of these engines everytime
