hi, what can i do to improve brake performance? It's on 33" right now and all parts are working as far as I know. Problem is when i press the pedal hard, as the pedal maxs out at the floor and the pressure is still not enough to grab the disc from spinning. It takes about 1-2secs of disc slippng btwn brake pads b4 lockup. (kind of like bicycle rim brakes sliding on wet rims)

For me to stop efficiently i have to gradually press the pedal to prevent slipping.

Any clue?

First thing I would do is clean and adjust the rear drums. They could be way out of adjustment.

Then I would flush and bleed the system.

I did flush and bleed the system just b4 winter. Btw, the slipping i feel through the pedal comes from the front wheels...

Parking brake works too, but I wouldn't say great...

Which LC yr model?

Is it a direct bolt-on operation to brake booster?

Are the brake lines mounted at the same location on mc without the need of brake lines change?

When you lifted the truck, did you put the LSPV down where it's supposed to be? Often overlooked in a lift.

the larger bore lc master cylinder won't make your brakes work better. it'll make your pedal firmer, but harder to push down b/c it decreases your mechanical advantage(your pushing more fluid). if you want better braking you would have to pair that w/ a larger booster or larger piston calipers. if you can get all of those combined that would be your best bet.

i recently did the v6 brake swap(booster, mc, calipers) on my truck and it stops a lot better.

Getting the Wheeling Fever
since your truck is a 91 with IFS then any calipers made for a
truck from 86 to 95 will fit your truck. What you want are the V6 IFs calipers since they have bigger pistons and more power than 4cyl calipers. V6 calipers require more fluid so you probably will want to buy a brake master cylinder For a non-ABS FJ80 which has a bigger bore than your current BMC. you can order all these parts @ www.Marlincrawler.com but they are preety pricey, i would try to get them from your local parts store. Iam Currently in the middle of this swap on my 85 but it is a little more extensive on a straight axle, I have done alot of research about this swapp and as far as i can tell the FJ80 BMC bolts right up. I am not 100% posotive because i just picked these parts up from my girlfriends dads Shop on my way home from wrestling practice tonight. If you want more info i posted questions on this subject on this website last week about this. just type in "Fj80" or "Brake master cylinder."

Roll Me Over
Sounds to me as if you have;

1. Air still in the system

2. Upon breaking the rubber hoses are old and worn out letting them bulge

3. Your MC is fubar and needs to be replaced.

I do not quite understand what you mean when you say "my brakes are slipping".
