I recently went from a 1992 3.0 V6 to a 2000 with a 2.7. IMHO the 2.7 is a lot better than the 3.0 and faster. We will see when I hook up my 17' boat. If driving empty is any indication, it should work as well.

Now, the 3.4 makes a lot more power and torque so.... It is probably a lot better than the 2.7. I was happy with my 3.0 and my 2.7 is as good or better. I had the same situation and took the newer truck. I am happy with my 2.7. I probably would be happier with a 3.4 but you have to take the deals as they come....

I bet the 2.7 is good for more miles. Its roots go back to the 22R. Where the 3.4's roots go back to the 3.0. Mine had 200k on the ticker when I sold it and was running strong so the 3.4 may not be that bad.
