I'm thinking a two or three day camp trip. The trail crosses pavement in the middle so you could leave early at that point. It's a great historic 4x4 trail and one of the only main routes in the US that was not turned into a Highway. 140 miles of fun, 500 ft to 5200 ft elevations.

"a 3-day wilderness adventure during which you'll find no services, no stores, no motels nor perhaps a single other person"

http://www.desertusa.com/mag99/nov/stories/mojavetrail.html

It's also within a days drive of CO, UT, AZ, and NM. The 15 and 40 run right by it. A stock Montero with AT tires should be OK and least one 5 gallon jerry can.

Any takers?

We will work on a date, anybody want to toss one out. Fall after the first couple cold nights. I don't like mojave rattlesnakes or scorpions

I have one extra seat my SWB, a nice bouncy seat. Las Vegas is only 75 miles. I would like to take a Canadian or east coaster who has never been out west . Bring your own tent...no felons please

Hmmm.....I might just be up for that. Can you post-up a basic map with an overlay of the route?

Sure thing,

General overview

More detailed

On the California TOPO maps by National Geographic I have exact route that was taken via GPS along the trail including notes the guy took The trail is done east to west and most skip the first few miles and pick up the trail right at Hwy 95. Woo Hoo can't wait to cross the devils playground.

This will get everyone interested, taken at Keslo Dunes in Mojave

Okay...I drove right by there earlier this month in my pink-mobile down I-15. I've driven out Kelbaker Road a few times and camped back when I lived in SoCal.

Need a Spot
I will be very happy to join you. The mojave is really spectacular during the fall. I went in october on a overnight trip and it was amazing. We will have to get permits if we plan to camp in non- designated areas.
