Wow. It looks like I got too excited too soon. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" /> Due to things beyond my control, we will not be able to go after all. We wish you guys a great and safe trip, and hopefully next time we can go.

I am very disappointed <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" />

I suppose that I'll be able to join you guys, if you do not mind.

The only problem is time. The whole road and direction, recommended by "Mojave Road Guide", is somewhat unpractical for a guy who must work for the living. The book recommends east-to-west direction, starting from Fort Mojave near Bullhead City. The whole path requires three nights in the fields. I do not know about you guys, but I just do not have time for the whole adventure (taking into account the drive from/to Bay Area).

May I suggest more practical plan ? I suggest west-to-east direction, and about 75% of the road (from Aftom Canyon camp to Invanpah Road). This is about 75% of distance, but if contains 95% of sightseeing.

The travel may look like:

1) Friday evening - getting together on Afton Canyon camp near freeway 15.

2) Saturday - drive through Mojave river basin, Soda Lake and Kelso area to Hole-in-the-wall campground.

3) Sunday - drive to the Ivanpah road, with side trip to Carusers canyon. Around 6PM on Sunday, we are going home.

Let me know what you guys think about this plan. I may bring some more Isuzu people with me.

Great! I'm thinking of a few side trips to hit some of the more interesting spots. Keslo Dunes at sunset is very spectacular.

If you read the book, then you know you can leave the trail in many places.

I for one like what Les has come up with. So I vote No.

Many of us have been waiting and planning, with much anticipation, to go on this trip since Les suggested it on 01/29/07.

For those who can't do it all can cut it short. The rest of us will continue on our merry way, plus maybe a few side trips.

Holger,

I plan on following the Mojave Road Guide. It's my first time doing the whole road and I would like to follow along in the book picking up the historical info and side trips.

I understand your points, they are perfectly logical but the first time out I'd like to stick to the "classic" route. If you have some Isuzu guys then maybe we can meet up in the middle for a photo shoot <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/cheers.gif" alt="" />
