You guys are all making it too complicated.

Just take the hose assemblies off and carefully cut the "mushroom" part of the hose crimp off. The hose will almost fall off the fitting. You'll find that the fitting is already barbed for a new hose. Take that to your local NAPA and have them sell you about 4 feet of matching sized oil resistant hose, lube well, slip over the barb (not easy) and put a couple new clamps on each end.

That's it! I think it cost me $8.00 to do both of mine. Hasn't leaked a drop since.

Oil cooler from my StarQuest swap is the banjo ends with tranny hose and double FI clamps at all four ends. That was two years ago now and ~7k miles. I may have but a little flare on as well, can't remember now.

In my case there was no off the shelf pre-bent option, so I did the flex route on the cheap. Seems to be solid so far

I sweated and rebent and sweated and rebent my StarQuest lines until they broke, then I cut off the crimp, and put on oil hose with single really good hose clamps and put a split piece of raditor hose over the oil hose pair where they went thru the core support. No permanent dust spots anywhere means no oil leaks....

Ditto that on the sleave piece going through the front. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/kewl.gif" alt="" />

I've had 'em leak at the banjo when they were disturbed-
new washers helped a lot, but one still oozes.
Rust prevention, I say!

That is right up my alley.

I plan on doing that. Just wanted to make it drivable while the hoses were off.

I just want to tell you both good luck, and we're all counting on you.

This is exactly what I did with a piece of radiator hose for padding through the radiator support - much like Eddy.

I have no metal lines at all left. I just hacked off the metal line ends about two inches from the banjo fitting, flaired it a little and clamped on power steering hose of the same (relative) size. Come to think of it, I didn't even use FI clamps on the hoses. Just the regular old worm gear variety.

Over 15,000 miles now and no leaks.

I also bought a short sack full of those copper washers for the banjo fittings. If I take off a line, I replace the washers.

87 Montero, bought new, by me -
88/89 intercooled Starion Turbo engine-
with awesome audio.

That is a good idea, I might just cut the metal lines.
