I can weld, but I'm not a Pro. I can MIG, Arc, fairly well. I can Tig.... I woudl not call it awsome, but I can do it. I welded everythign on my truck.
Motor mounts, Driveshaft yokes, SAS brackets, rear spring perchs, intercooler piping... Everything that has been modified.

I can weld and get things done and it seems to turn out pretty decent. I dont keep in the habit enough so it takes me a bead or two until I get the knack back. Then I am wanting to weld more by the time I am done with the project .
I took a semester of welding in college and loved every bit of it. Having grown up on a farm I learned to weld young but still loved the welding class and learned a lot from it. I am proficient enough to make what I need for the Monty and thats about all the welding I do.

My neighbor was owner of Jerry's Machine Shop. He said I could watch him weld It's a nice big machine, the size of a washing machine, 220 and has wire that feeds thru the gun and two gas bottles.
Jerry is a great guy, about 70 with 6 kids. He showed me the ropes in the little town population 500 I used to live in. " Vote the way they tell you, go to the town picnic, get the t-shirt and learn the 5 cops names you will do fine"

I also needed a choice not offered. I checked weld like a pro, since I can weld pretty well but am currently out of practice.
I can also solder circles around most

i weld. not like a pro but i can lay down a pretty good bead. i work for a trucking company and most of our trailers are aluminum dry bulk tankers so i had to learn to weld aluminum in a hurry. it's alot different than welding steel in my opinion. but with some practice, it got easier everytime i pulled the trigger(30A spoolgun). i did all of the fab work on my rig myself(sliders, rear bumper, sas, rollcage, etc.) and so far they've held up to the abuse. i KNOW i still got alot to learn. i personally think if you have the right equipment, the right setting, and a little patience, anyone can learn to weld. my 7 year old hase been practicing with my old Lincoln and he's starting to figure it out. i just picked up a Miller251 and i have to say that it makes a huge difference compared to some of the older units i've owned in the past.

I agree with needing another option . I weld, wouldn't say pro though, and wouldn't say not very good, everything holds and looks pretty good, but I could use a lot more experience.

i weld every day and i also do a bit of old school blacksmithing. i mostly make grand entry doors all steel and the welds are seemless. i also do a bit of stuff for my fourby ![[Linked Image]](http://pics.montypics.com/toasty/2006-12-10/1165803244_082.jpg) i did this tube work before the body lift but other than that i think it turned out good for my first try with a tubing bender
