Well, I couldn't get much progress until today. I only had 4hrs today, but i'll get back to it tomorrow night to finish the deck.

Ya should get a before and after vehicle weight for that project; could be a candidate for airbags by the time you're done; just a thought.

Keep it comin'!

Gross Weight before (spare/full tank): 3800LBS

Ya, I'll see about the airbag as I already have Add-a-leaf + 2" longer than stock shackles. What I was thinking earlier today is maybe addition of a disconnectable rear-swaybar?

Finally I only had another 4hrs shop time tonight from 9pm to 2am to finish the deck. It took a while to get all the spacing/measuring/tacking/finish weld/paint done.

Next time is to gusset all the joints, weld a 1.5" rack bar behind the cab, removable bed side & finish the rear bumper, and so on...

Good Day...

put some post holes on the edges so you can put some wood side walls up. Lookin a bit ghetto there with the ropes and 2x6

Seeing the 2x6 extending into the cab line made me cringe a little. Consider also stake pockets as mentioned. Also maybe LED clearance lights? Boosted wrote a nice little article on wiring them up; I moved it to the Toy Tech for posterity.

LOL, I had an emergency to do Mcgill's composting pickup run this morning as I haven't done it for over a week... that's why you see everything is kindof... primitive.

Tell you the truth, I was a bit skeptical about the adding about 600-700lbs on the deck as I haven't even finish welding yet. Some areas were just tacked together...

Anyway, good news is that with ~600-700lbs, the back of the deck is still about 0.75"-1" higher than the front, depending which side I measure on. (Passenger side spring stronger than left, about 1" difference...)

Hopefully by the time the camper is fully loaded, it might be "perfectly" level?!?

1.

Is it possible to wire 2 100amp solenoid in parallel to handle the load of a single 200amp solenoid?

2.

Is it possible to wire both incandesant bulb and led tail lights off the same + lead, without adding a heat-emission resistor? Will the current goes to the path of least resistance (led) therefore dimming the incandesant bulb light output?

(wiring led + normail tail light together)

1. Yes, you can parallel 2 solenoids and they will split the load and act like a single large one. Of course you will have to ensure that they are both switching properly and if one goes you will very quickly fry the other one (assuming your load requires more than 100 amps).

2. I'm not certain what you mean by heat-emission resistor. If you don't add some kind of current limiting resistor you will burn up the LED. It is certainly OK to run both the LED and the regular incandescent off the same +12V line, but think about this, the LED will draw some current, probably small, but the addition of the LED current to the same +12V feed will cause slightly more (maybe negligible) voltage drop in the line and thus cause the incand bulb to burn slightly dimmer b/c of the loss of voltage in the line. It will work though. Other choice is to run a larger wire for the power to share.
