Hi,

I have been gathering parts for about 3 months now & yes progress have been made. Box will get sold this friday & flat-deck will be welded on this Saturday. Pics will come.

Flat-Deck;
Size: 70"x84"
Material: Steel/Wood

Camper;
Size: 4' high collapse / 6' ceiling extended
Overall Truck/Camper Collapsed Clearance Height: 7' (1' high above cab)
Material: Aluminum Frame, 3' extension over-cab bed space, 1 sheet of 25mm Nida-core for the roof (Yes, they are pricy at $100 tax-in for a 4'x7'), Wall Material Construction (I still need help from all of u guys.)

I'll post up some drawings.

I weight my truck yesterday & got about 4200lbs with a passenger + some ski gears. What's the max total weight again for pickup trucks? (Previous Owner painted over my door sticker...)

See ya,
-chris

Question #1:
Accessory Water pump setup:

I got this "Magnetic driven, Seal-less, Circulating pumps, 12/24v dc pump rated for hot liquid, 15L/min"
from ebay.

http://i16.ebayimg.com/06/i/000/86/d0/28f7_1.JPG

I wonder if it's possible to plumb this pump upstream of my automatic radiator to the 2 extra in/out tubes at the bottom to make warm, if not hot water with the engine running, is this possible?

If so, I guess I could also make a Y to diver the stream into 2 right after the pump, one goes to radiator for making hot water & the other one straight to the tap for cold water. In the end, they all go to the hot/cold tap of the sink/shower in my camper.

I tested the city water flow from kitchen water tap was 8L/min, this 12/24v pump says 15L/min & , i guess that's plenty enough? (I haven't measure the shower water flow though...)

Your water heater plan sounds good. Roger Brown has an interesting shower article on his 4Crawler website.

Carefull you don't blow the bottom off the radiator in colder climates!

America's first fourwheel drive was built in Mankato, MN by Ernest Rosenburger in 1908 who founded Four-Traction Auto Co. on Hickory Street. The company though successful closed in 1913.

Neat stuff! I can't wait to see how it turns out.

As for the weight, the maximum gross vehicle weight in stock condition for you're '91 is 5350 lbs. Individual max weights are 2600lbs for the front and 3000lbs for the rear.

However, you could go over this, if you changed out springs. If you were significantly over 5400lbs, you might consider adding a full floating axle.

Beyond that, the biggest and best brakes that will fit for safety.

Overseas trucks of the same generation had a rear axle capcity of almost 3500lbs, while the front remained 2600lbs, which I believe ups their total GVW to about 5850lbs, yet I believe the only difference between their trucks and ours was springs. I don't think they even came will full floaters.

You want to try keep your weight under 5400lbs anyway, because trust me, much more than that, and you won't be able to go up hills at all.

Sounds like you've seen the Super Camper...

That rocks- good luck. My wife and I and the dogs need something bigger for sleeping in the ski area parking lots/camping/road trips, as the 4runner or Rodeo just don't cut it anymore. Something 4wd like the SC or the Innovations Camper rigs (that Brian894x4 links to on his site) are our dream trucks.

One thing the SC lacks is a pass-thru from cab to back section. I'm assuming you're not doing a pass thru, are you?

Post some pics when you get them, that's awesome.

Hum...Never thought about that...

Anyone knows if those 2 tubes on automatic radiator goes inside the rad core up & down like the engine coolant? or Do those tubes just goes through the btm part of the radiator?

A 15L/min pump into the 1/4"-3/8" openings of the 2 rad tubes ...hum...Will it get too much pressure/constriction resulting water circulation too fast and not have enough time to get warm?

If that doesn't work, how about letting the pump suck water from the water supply (bucket/container), then through the rad to get heat up, then the pump itself, and finally to the tap?

I don't know, maybe it's the same thing...i need a valve anyway to adjust flow/pressure i guess...

Yes, it's bummer that the SC got hit in an accident! After ski-bumming under my topper 2 winters ago, Yes, Pass-thru is on the priority of my list. Remember that I'm on a super tight budget, I will only use a window as big as the size of the cab's slider window opening. (Anyone parting out a cheap pickup rear slider window or a topper slider-window for cab-access by any chance?)

I weighted myself yesterday at 4200lbs with gas tank almost full, pickup box, spare tire, 2 people (300lbs) and stuff (100lbs) in the truck yesterday, so that should work out to about 3800lbs, box included, minus 2 people & stuff.

I still haven't call around junkyard to find out the actual pickup box weight...I'm assuming around 300lbs?

Let's say pickup bare-frame without box (3500lbs) + flatdeck (250lbs) + furnished camper (500lbs?) + people/dog (300lbs) + tools/gear (200lbs) + h20/gas/coolant (50lbs) + food (50lbs) = 4850lbs

I will try my best to keep the gross weight below 5000lb. It does seem do-able! Wish me luck!

The pressure that an automatic tranny puts out is much more then hose bib water is.

The couple that I have taken apart have just been one tube along the bottom. Remember the water in the bottom of the radiator has been cooled down so I do not know how much heat you will get from it. I have an R & M on board shower set up on my rig and it could scald you.
