Thanks guys,
I changed all the bulbs in the back and tried it just to see and sure enough everything was back to normal. I also found a trailer converter hide behind one of the lights that had all the wires cut on the output side and two bare loose wire on the other side. I cut it all out too. Whatever it was the problem went away.
