I have a weird blinker problem. When I use the left blinker both right and left blinkers come on. The right blinker works fine. It happens with the headlights or brake lights on or off (all the time in other words). I checked for a burnt out bulb but they all looked okay. Maybe I just need to drop a twenty and change out all the bulbs... Any suggestions?

Sometimes the dual filament 1157 bulbs short out internally. That's the first placed I'd look at or replace...

Body Damage is Cool
I've seen that movie before.

Try a new bulb in the offending side, and if that doesn't clear it up then the other side. AFAIR, mine ended up being the bulb opposite the one presenting the problem - one side worked fine, the other kept eating bulbs.

If that doesn't fix the problem, let us know. Erik and Adam are spot on with their advice.

However, mine had a similar problem with a far different cause. I've got some other ideas if replacing the bulbs doesn't work.

Funny. I was just visiting a site to try out 1157 LEDs (Amber-super bright). I'll let you know. If they are brighter, that would be awesome. And supposedly, outlast the truck!

The only problem with the LEDs in the turn signals is they may not draw enough current to get the flasher to work right. They have resistor kits for that if they don't. I have them in my work truck since I have to pull the camper to change them if they burn out and so far so good. I went with 18 LEDs as the 12s were not very bright. Make sure you get the same color LEDs as your lens covers because LEDs put out most of their illumination in whatever color they are.

Thanks guys,
I changed all the bulbs in the back and tried it just to see and sure enough everything was back to normal. I also found a trailer converter hide behind one of the lights that had all the wires cut on the output side and two bare loose wire on the other side. I cut it all out too. Whatever it was the problem went away. Thanks again!

Do you still have the trailer converter? I need the little sealed-unit black box.

Oops, I tossed it. I will look in the shop trash tonight when I get home it might still be there. If it made it inside it is long gone cause Momma don't play that!
