I have an 85 Monty SWB with the 4 cylinder and 5 speed tranny. I'm having some trouble with shifting into fourth gear. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" />

I cannot just position the shifter into the 4th, let off the clutch, give gas and go. I must hold the shifter into the gate, let off the clutch and load the drive train by gassing it before I can release the shifter .... otherwise it pops out of gear. Once it's in forth and rolling ... no problems. It's just that there's no casual shifting into 4th anymore. It takes a bit of trickery. Oh yeah, I cannot downshift into forth at all .... won't stay in gear.

There are no other dissernable problems with the tranny or clutch .... so what's up ???
