Getting the Wheeling Fever
I am thinking its about time to change my 02 sensor I have about 125k on my 91 4runner 22re. I cannot rember if the previous owner changed it or not but my gas mileage hasn't been as good as it was. and its never idled that great sometimes it idles at like 2,000rpm's unless I blip the throttle then it returns down back to a little under 1,000rpm's like it should.
I changed all these things within the last year.
cap
rotor
air filter
spark plugs
spark plug wires
oil filter/oil every 3k

I'm thinking I should change vacum hoses.

should I get a new 02 sensor?
I have looked around at prices on them and they run anywhere from $40 to $110. I am assuming OEM the way to go? what is a good place to buy from? suggestions, warnings, tips tricks anything to do with 02 sensors that will help me out is greatly appreciated!

Cheers
R.

Clean your throttle body and make sure your TPS is set up right. Part of a full-fledged tuneup.

When's the last time the fuel filter was changed?

O2 sensors; www.sparkplugs.com Denso's are available.

Roll Me Over
You could change out the vacuum lines to eliminate them, a cracked one can cause an irratic idle. Shouldn't run more than $10-15 for 10 ft of line.

Change your O2 sensor. It is done after that mileage. Your gas mileage will pay for it in 10 tank fills. Disconnect the battery when you change it for at least 30 min. so the computer will reset the readings when you start it up. If you don't it will take a long time to correct itself.

Getting the Wheeling Fever
so i am looking at the 02 sensors http://www.sparkplugs.com/results_app.asp
someone suggested Denso.
but there are two kinds Universal and identical is the only diffrence between the two the wire length? does it come with a diagram so i know what wires go where?
there is a 30$ price difference hey thats a tank of gas.
any advice as to what rout to go. i am electronically inclined so soldering a few wires i can handle as long as i know what wires go to what pins on the connector but i need to know what goes where?
but if its too much of a hassel i will just spend the extra money.
advice comments tips and tricks are welcome!
Cheers

The cheaper one does not come with the plug, you will have to take the old plug off and solder it to the new sensor. Be careful as the old plug is easy to crack removing it as the plastic deteriorates with age and looses flexibility. I personally would buy the new oem style. Also there are some cheap ones on Ebay. I bought an original toyota sensor NIB for $47.00. Here it is $200.00 at the dealer.

There is only a ten dollar difference. NGK $38.85 vs $29.85 or Denso $68.25 vs $52.94. Take the NGK it will do just fine.

The small hoses are 4mm. The 5/32 size sux, esp on carbs. Not sure how it would affect EFI.
