I has CEL for misfire on #1. I changed out the plugs (they were far from new) and that fixed my problem. Different engine but similar PCM programing and logic.

On a car that I owned a few years back the PO had installed Bosch Platum plugs not long before I bought it (he was a friend). I kept running into a dead miss from time to time. What the heck. It got more frequent and more frequent. Turns out the problem was the spark plug had seperated inside and eventually the electrode fell off.
