The Crankshaft Position Sensor (CKP) is used to sense the speed and position of the crankshaft for ignition timing control by the ECM. It is located on the front flange of the oil pan. It will have a two wire lead coming off it to a connector. For a quick check, the resitance between the two terminals of the connector should be 360-460 ohms. The CKP was only used on the 96-98 1.6L engines.
