I noticed this morning the carpet in my passenger footwell is sopping wet. First thought was the heater core after what happened in my 4Runner. Thank god it's just water.

Any common leak area I should look for? Didn't see and holes in the firewall and I have'nt done any deep water crossing in months.

Might be the excuse I've been looking for to pull all the carpet out and Rhino line the floor. Factory seats in the Sport model suck so I'd likle to find something better while it's all out. Not sure if the post 97 Xj's have the same bolt patten as the earlier models.

Will Grand Cherokee seats fit? There's a black one with nice gray leather seats bieng parted out close to my house.

If airconditioning is present and you have been using it or the defroster you may have a condensation leak.
Otherwise the door seals and the hood vent will sometimes allow rain to enter.

I recently went through this with my 99 XJ 2 door and as wild as it sounds it was the seal on the rear hatch. Water was also collecting in the rear quaters behind the rear wheels, but it was leaking through and there is a path along the floor and the lowest place is the drivers and passenger side front floors, so seeing as how gravity works that is where all the water collected. I ended up using some sealer to seal up all the metal seams in the back around the hatchback too since some water was coming in through them, but the final thing was replacing the rear weatherstrip. Now its nice and dry inside.

Didn't think to check the back. There's no carpet back there so it wont be hard to find any leaks.

I'll have to do some digging this weekend and find the drain for the condensor and winshield tray.

I do use the defrost alot these days.

i have a 89 xj and the same thing happened to me. You need to check right by the heater motor in the fire wall and see if water is pilling up rigth there thats where it was coming in for me. ALl i did was drill a hole and put some sealer onto it.
