I am putting a 700R-4 trans into my toyota. I was wondering if anyone knows if there is a good year range to use or not to use! I have a 2001 4.3L with a 4L60-E. I could use this one but I don't know if I should use the electronic trans or older version. Any info would help. Thanks

From what I understand the 700R4 is the more reliable of the two, since it uses purely mechanical components. The only advantage I can see to using the 4L60-E is that you can tweak the shift points at will.

The 700R4 ia a good transmission but you want the 86 or newer model unless your going to beef it up before installing. Lots of problems prior to 86 model. The newer models have larger servo and are a stronger tranny.
