Getting the Wheeling Fever

I am putting a 700R-4 trans into my toyota. I was wondering if anyone knows if there is a good year range to use or not to use! I have a 2001 4.3L with a 4L60-E. I could use this one but I don't know if I should use the electronic trans or older version. Any info would help. Thanks
