Nope, Big filter does not reduce pressure.What happened is that Toyota added a check valve to the filter to prevent oil from draining out when the engine was turned off. Then when the engine is started the tensioner has slacked until the pressure builds, this is where the damage was happening. You have to be careful when you buy oil filters. The thread and seal might be the same size as you need but it may not have a check valve. I think the check valve is needed on basically engines that have filters mounted horizontally.
