Do I need to pull the spindle to remove the halfshafts or will they flex enough to get them past the studs on the diff? I tried pulling them tonight and they really didn't seem to want to clear the studs. Any tips?
If I have to remove the spindle should I start with the upper or the lower arm? Tips?
Also, the Haynes says I need to "pull the side gear shafts from the differential with a slide hammer and adaptor plate." Is this really necessary or is there a workaround?
Thanks folks.

Put the nuts back on the studs, and pound them out.
To remove the stub shafts, just use 2 prybars... Works every time.

Put a jack under the lower balljoint on the side you are pulling to compress the ifs as much as possible... then crank the wheel towards the diff and they should clear fine.

Oh, any tips on pulling the "side gear shaft" after I have the half shafts off? Is there a clip or something that needs a special puller?

I already answered about the side gear "stub" shafts...

Hey, good stuff Zuk. I thought I had been through pretty much your entire page but must have missed that one. Thanks.
And DRTDVL... wasn't quite sure what you meant about, "put the nuts back on the studs, and pound them out", hence the confusion.
