since the SOA on the back has taken my e-brake cables to their limit, something has to be done. they need to be re-routed anyway because of the 1-peice d-shaft.

so I'm messing around under there today pulling the rear 3rd, and I pull the calipers off and the shafts out and notice that the caliper mount looks like it will work the caliper mounted upside down.

I grab the pass side caliper and bring it over to the drivers side, mount it upside down and on the rotor and everything. the brake line goes in fine, everything clears, and it puts the e-brake cable coming over the top of the axle and springs (out of harm's way) and it looks like it win me part of my e-brake battle. It looks like there will be sufficient e-brake cable length, which will save me some headache. The brake line doesn't seem like it will be vulnerable because it is still behind the axle tube.

so, is this a bad idea? will it not bleed properly? I have a friend who runs an auto shop and he can vacuum bleed it if necessary.

Where is the bleeder in relation to the piston bore? I would suspect it is now on the bottom. This is a problem as you cannot get all the air out of the caliper.

Although, there are ways to get around this if need be. Non, traditional, but ways nonetheless.

Other than that, there should be no reason to not mount them on the bottom of the axle. You do open them up to possible damage from the inside and bottom, but...whatever works.

When i "finished" my sas, i couldnt for the life of me get my brakes to bleed.

I think i even posted up something here, I bought speed bleeders, i got the fancy little vacuum pump to suck the brake fluid through the lines, i went through 10 bottles of brake fluid(at 11 bucks a pop) and refused to believe what the real problem was.

I had put my cailpers on upside down, It was impossible for me to get them to bleed. You may be able to get yours too bleed, but i couldnt..

thats just my experience..

PAUL THEY SHOULD WORK WITH OUT ANY PROBLEM , THE PROB, IS THE BLEEDING PART,, PRESSURE BLEED OR VACC BLEED , REMOVE THE CALIPERS STICK A SMALL PIECE OF WOOD BETWEEN THE BRAKE PADS THE THICKNESS OF THE ROTOR AND THEN ROTATE THE CALIPER SO THAT THE BLEED SCREW IS IN THE UP POSITION , BLEED THE BRAKES AND THEN REINSTALL THEM AND THEY SHOULD WORK FINE , BLEED THE FRONTS ALL THE WAY BACK TO THE REARS THEM BEING THE LAST ONES ,SO AS TO GET ALL THE AIR FROM THE LINES .. JERRY
