I went to a local salvage yard this morning and they said they were going to crush 3 Raiders that they have had for a number of years. Seems the price of steel is worth more than the parts from the trucks. Anyway, what do ya'll recomend that I take off these trucks to have as spares?? My truck is solid right now. I have no need for anything "yet". I'm thinking steering box, idler arm(maybe), anything else I should scavenge before they die???

heads for the 2.6L carbs too (including all the lines in place) radiator (have it rodded and ready to go in when your radiator gets clogged).
For bigger tires, get tie rod ends. Also consider a steering system drag link/center link.
I'm sure others who own a similar rig can chime in with better suggestions.

I'd grab some of the breakable/hard to find plastic items such as the thermo valves from the intakes (if they're not already broken), latches for the side windows, maybe some switches from the dash (turn signal stalk if it's not too difficult to get out), flasher relays, fusible links? Basically a bunch of incidental stuff that won't take up too much storage space, but you'll be glad to have the spares should the need arise (or to sell to people! *cough* window latch *cough*). Check if any have manual hubs and grab those too. I use to always grab fuses, bulbs, little crap no one thinks of until it breaks off in your hand and you think "crap...where am I gonna get one of these?" (and most junk yards could care less about plastic - two heaping handfuls of doodads usually costs $2-$3 bucks, if they charge you at all)

Other marketable items inclue the rear door light cover and outside handle, LSDs, bouncy seat bases, and gauge pods. Seems to be what I've sold the most of... <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/notooth.gif" alt="" />

Hey Javypro, if your dome light is acting up or not working correctly, it may need the contact rivets tightened. Mine didn't work at all when I got the truck but there was power there. I was able to remove the screws, wiggle the housing down, then use a pair of channel locks to squeeze the rivets (not the switch contacts) until the light turned on. Then I gave them all one last pinch and it's been working ever since. I guess the plastic shrinks or something. These go through the housing and one side are metal bars and the other are where the wires connect.

The problem that i have with mine is the little ball and spring that does the contact inside with the "power" contacts. The plastic part that holds the small ball is messed up so it need replacement.

I'm making a list of what everyone is suggesting and I am going to make a return trip this week sometime. Hopefully I'll get some items that I or someone else couls use. By the way, I got the hint (cough, cough) I'll see if they have some good latches for you.

I've got a list and will return this week. Your wish list is written down. I'll see what I can do...no guarantees though.
