$800, take it or leave it. I'd offer him $500 first. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/nana.gif" alt="" />

Couple years ago, I picked up an '83 SR5 with a toolbox in the bed and a full set of mounted winter tires--had the thrust washers sitting in the oil pan for $500.

A long block is going to cost you around $1600, unless you can find one here, given that you do NOT have a rebuildable core to turn in to someone.

Forget the Armorall; you're gonna need it for belts;hoses, etc. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/shame.gif" alt="" />

EDIT Maybe you need a trip to Ohio For sale here

Democracy is two wolves and a lamb voting on what to have for dinner. Liberty is a well-armed lamb contesting the vote.

Getting the Wheeling Fever
Toyotas are gold in Pensacola, the only $1500 ride you'll get here is a wreck or a hackjob 350/4.3 conversion. Here it's like they just go down to $3500 and stop nomatter what they are. We drool over $2000 running pickup/runners unless you can see through them.

Example 94' 2wd, V6, auto, 173,000 miles- $4900
89', 4wd, 22re, 5 speed, 187,000 miles, 33" tires-$4200
86', 4wd, 22re, 5 speed, ???,??? miles, see through bed-$2950. etc. etc.

Roll Me Over
What is the asking price?

If it only has surface rust and it is dent free, $1k isn't a bad price, not here in CA anyways. I paid $1k for this '91 2yrs ago.

It had a hole in the #4 piston, a huge dent in the side of the bed, dents in the cab, both fenders, both bumpers were bad, a cracked windshield, an interior that hadn't been cleaned in atleast 10yrs, and the seats were both beyond keeping. I originally had planned to rebuild and resale it, but after assessing the costs I decided it would be better to build it for the trail.

Here in CA, clean, complete 3rd gen rigs with bad engines can go for $2500, and are rarely found for under $2k. You can come across one every now and then, but it is usually gone as soon as the add is posted.

You don't have to buy a new engine, I would look for a good used one, or one that needs to be repaired and rebuild it, you can usually find used working endines for under $600, and ones needing rebuilds under $300. A complete rebuild kit from their master engine kit runs $219.

More than tread lightly. Leave it like you were never there, nor anyone else.
