Getting the Wheeling Fever
I'm about to do the brakes on the front of the T. The rotors are a little warped, a lot worn, and the squealing is driving me mad. Of the four 4WD vehicles I've owned, none have ever needed front brakes while I was around to change them. I've changed discs, calipers, pads, lines, etc. on cars but those didn't have a front axle with ADD hubs on the end of them so some of this is new to me.

Looking through the FSM, it looks like I'll need:
1. a new flange gasket
2. new lock washer
3. new oil seal inboard of the inside wheel bearing
4. new rotors and pads
5. MP grease
6. some solvent to clean the old grease out of the bearings.
7. a 54 mm deep well socket (SST 09607-60020)
8. new inside and outside bearing outer races. Do I really need these or are the old ones likely to be reusable?
9. one 12 pack of cool refreshers.

I know a bunch of you guys have done this before so please let me know if my list is missing anything I'm likely to need or includes things that aren't necessary to replace. If there are things that folks want pictures of while I've got it apart, let me know this also.

Any other "while I'm in there" things that I ought to consider doing?

1 & 2, I usually reuse those (depending on condition of gasket), but you can replace them if you want. I just hammer the washer flat and/or flip it over. This works for a few times anyway.
3-6, yes. I'd recommend Brembo rotors over OEM. Tire-rack.com is a good source.
7, Hard to beat this price: http://trail-gear.com/knuckle-tools.html but a 2-1/8" one locally might be an option as well. 54mm or 2-1/8" may be tough to find w/o some searching though, and you usually need to also buy a 3/4" to 1/2" adapter to use it.
8, you shouldn't need them. I can't recall ever replacing one on a Toyota that wasn't severely abused/neglected.

These articles have some good info:

You're the man. Thanks for the comprehensive reply. I already have the Brembo rotors and Hawk pads that several here on the board have gone to. I just ordered the knuckle tool from the link you posted and I'll probably get the oil seals from Toyota. I need a couple of other things anyway. Hopefully I'll have everything ready to go for this weekend.
Thanks again.
Don

Got my order in this morning. Basically the same price as going to a local discount auto parts store, except he sells Toyota parts. Excellent.

I too just ordered by brake parts, went with tirerack.com for the brembo rotors, hawks LTS SUV/truck pads, they shipped the same day i oredered, should have them tomorrow. The trail-gear socket was a great deal, however shipping was $9.95 for a 2 lb. package.

Wait a minute. You paid $9.95 for shipping from CA to CA? I paid $7.xx for shipping from CA to LA (lower Alabama aka the Florida Panhandle). You must've upgraded your shipping.
