That price is about right for tha amount of labor/parts involved, about $1100 of it is parts/head rebuild alone.

You would save about $800 doing the work yourself, not that physically hard to do, just a lot of mental/prep work involved. It would take you about 24hrs working slowly at it, so you could have it done over a couple of weekends if you weren't in a hurry.

However as you said that $800 more is insurance and peace of mind that the work was done properly, and you would have it back in about 3 days. I woudl definately get the injectors done, since you have to remove the intake, fuel rails etc., to get to them.
