Getting the Wheeling Fever
I was wondering if anyone knew any differences between the two different years of troopers. I know they both have the same engine (6DV1) SOHC but besides that what about suspension, and are the engine parts interchangeable? Assuming they are the same engine they would be... Any info would help...

Not many differences at all. I think 95 was the start of OBD-1 engines. Also, if the 95 came with the factory fender flairs I think it had a little bit wider axles.

Wasn't it 96 when the change to OBD-II. I just remember Mark saying that's why he got his 95 was because it had the updated dash and wider axles and also it didn't have OBD-II.

Yep, '96 was the mandatory year for ODB2.

Wasn't sure exactly when they started it ... new it was roughly around there. Was just trying to correct his mistake in wording there mainly. Since OBD-I had been out for a while at that point. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

Changes are there but not major...they widened the stance slightly, which means different upper control arms, lower ball joints, front drive axles, and tie rods compared to 92-94. I assume the rear axle is a little wider too. Most parts remain the same though.

I assume that you could exchange the older 92s front suspension with that of a 95 and have the wider front axles correct?
