on another note, i am no genious with trucks, but i have my basic knowlage..
first off- carboration = bad idea
secoundly- you are going to have to shave the inner fenders to fit the engine, make sure you move the battery and properly seal the engine intakes.

is there an echo in here?

and carburetion is not a bad idea.

both carb and EFI have their strong points.

EFI gives you more "useable" throttle range.

but at full throttle a carb can be just as good or better.

there are many tests and a few techniques of polishing the intake runners and insides of the intake which pertain to whether you are running a carb or not. (fuel will puddle up)

and in addition!

if this guy has any mechanical knowledge at all then he would go with a carb to be more self sufficient.

guess what.

if i'm out wheelin on the trail and my cherokee takes a dump on me.

i'm screwed. i get to be towed home.

if i was wheeling with Mr. 350 and his rig takes a dump on him (aside from blowing up some major mechanical part) there wouldnt be anythign stopping him from driving it home.

it may not be running the best

but it would run.

agreed, that all makes sence but they phased out carbs for a reason, they are inconsistant, i have seen a cheroke, much like yours, climb a 15' vert rock face, if "Mr.350" wants to such as intence wheeling as he says he dose, a carb will not be atiqite to provied constant power on that verticl of an incline, if hes just going for bumps n such, that carb is a good idea.
as for the power, so be it, ive accepted the the fact that he it staying with the tuck hes got, and im all for the engine upgrade..
as for the echo: i dont recall anythinthign bout shaving and moving in the hood..javascript:void(0)

What makes him stupid is that he talks about not wanting to waste extra money, when he bought a 2006 tj for a project wheeler. Prob. not the smartest way to go about getting a 350 in a jeep!

the "echo" was in reference to my post.

i told him he may need to cut out the inner fenders and he should have a snorkel or some way to divert water from the air intake.

and i dont believe that he has really stated WHAT he wants to do with this jeep.

it could be a pavement princess for all we know.

and as for the "he doesnt want to waste money"

he said he could throw as much money as he needed at it, its not an issue with him.

he just didnt want to pay a shop to do the transplant!

I've never swapped a motor, but I have a bit of mechanical skill. I already plan on it being alot of work so dont try to talk me out of it, and dont tell me to have a shop do it, because I really dont want to spend a bunch of extra money on something i can do myself. I have a 2006 TJ w/ a 4banger & 6-speed manual tranny (cheapest model). I would like to swap in a carborated 350 V8 and SM420 or NP435. I dont know what to do about the transfercase. I dont really have a clue on what kind of adapters or how to make it all fit and work. Anyone have some advice? <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/scared.gif" alt="" />

I a planing to do this same thing, but with a 94 tj.

What do you think?

Well ManZ you've got your work cut out for you! First off you will have to consider the "sniffer" NY uses.. I'm pretty sure you will not be able to use a carbed engine in your ride and still pass the sniffer... So you should start by looking into the NY sticker code.
Now if you really CAN put a 350 in there in NY the problems start right away.
You will need front and rear axles, driveshafts, tranny, transfercase, springs, shocks and oh golly no telling what else besides the 350 you are wanting.
I might be thinking of trading it off for a Z71 or something that was already built.
