I have broken my left sway bar and was just told I don't need to replace them. Won't this put more stress on the rest of the parts on my front end? Has anyone not replaced the sway bars?

Likely the end link has broken, not that hard to replace, get a used one from the junkyard.
But, if you have not noticed any difference in handling since it broke, you can probably remove the whole bar, as you have not had a functioning one since the part broke. Won't stress the front end, you may feel a little more body roll in turns, but it is a truck afterall, not a sports car. I've not had a front sway bar for about 8 years now.

I agree with 4Crawler. If you've been driving around with the link broken, I say remove the entire anti-roll bar. I haven't had one on my '89 for about 3 years now. It's pretty much stock except for Chevy rear springs. A little more body roll, but nothing drastic.
A few years ago I was rear ended by a GMC 3500, and the impact spun me around 180 degrees and pushed me across oncoming traffic. No anti-roll bar, no roll-over, so I've got to say it's pretty safe to remove.

Yes, I don't see much good those sway bars are being only 4" long on each side. I don't notice much of a difference when I am turning or when I am off road. Thanks!

I know a guy with an 89, 4" lift who spun out in a corner, then caught some traction, rolled it down the side of an embankment...although he was a bad driver... , i dont run one either, but im a wee bit wider.

I know a guy with an 89, 4" lift who spun out in a corner, then caught some traction, rolled it down the side of an embankment... Not a whole lot is gonna save you once you're sideways in a lifted Toyota. 'cept for a snowbank.. But ya, if you don't mind how its driving right now, you don't need the sway bar. I haven't had mine for a while now too.

Same here, took mine off, no difference at all in my case, am running SwayAway torsion bars. Having it off helps with the minimal articulation that the IFS does have I would be careful though if you have a high body lift and big tires.

BTW for 4Crawler: Roger I can't seem to access any of your very informative web sites, do I have some type of setting on my end preventing this? Thanks, Hugh
