16" Tundra Wheels on T100? #790426 02/18/07 06:23 AM

Getting the Wheeling Fever
There are a bunch of 16" and 17" Tundra, Tacoma and Sequioa wheels for sale locally for $400 and under. I'm looking at the 5 spoke 16" tundra wheels as 17" is not needed on my T100.

Seller says that these wheels are 16x8, is this true or could they be 16x7? I definitely want 16x8 wheels. Also, can anyone estimate what the backspacing may be? I want them to fit with my BJ spacer lift and I've read that stock Toyota wheels may not fit.

Will the following Tundra wheels fit on the front of my T100 or are there clearance issues with the front hubs? It looks like the wheels have removeable centercaps and I've seen several Toyota wheels on T100's where the center caps wouldn't fit over the T100 hubs. Do you think I'll have a problem on my T100? My hubs are the stock ADD hubs.

I was going to go for some cheap ProComp Series 97 Rockcrawler black steel wheels but these looks to be a great deal.

Thanks,

Tundra Wheels

found a better picture of the wheels in question on Ebay, does this centercap look like it will fit over the T100 hubs? Description has the offset listed as "15", is that in mm and what does that mean the backspacing is? They are also listed as 7J in width, so I guess they are 16x7 and not 16x8 as the buyer claims.

If I run into clearance issues running OEM 16" Toyota wheels in my T100 with the Balljoint Spacer lift, will adding wheel spacers cure the clearance problem?

Need a Spot
I have the older tundra rims with a 5/16 spacer to clear the hubs. I ordered my spacers from Advance Auto Parts. http://www.cardomain.com/member_pag.../web/2076000-2076999/2076587_14_full.jpg

Those look like the 05+ 4wd Taco wheels.

they may have been used on some Tacomas but they are 2006 Toyota Tundra wheels. I saw 2 Tundra Double Cabs today with them.

I'm running the early Tundra swirl 5 spoke steels and the caps don't fit on the front but since they are just for winter I have been sucking it up. Honestly I'll probably make a fiberglass step up to allow the hub to clear I just have had other things to deal with lately. So really the answer could be yes or no I think it just depends on the center cap style of the particular wheel. Something else is that all the 16" truck wheels that I know of are 16x7 and Toyota to my knowledge hasn't made a 16x8 and put it on the Tundra, Taco, 4Runner, Sequoia, etc.... The only one that I am reasonably sure they outfitted with 16x8 is the newer Land Cruisers. Also I am pretty sure that the Back spacing on those should be 3.75 which is pretty standard on the Toyota wheels and should be just fine.

thanks. I read somewhere else that these wheels measure 8 inches wide but they are really 7 inches wide where the bead mounts, so they are really 7" wide wheels where it counts. The 285/75/16's that I want (Nitto Terra Grapplers) recommend a minium 7.5" wide wheel. So maybe I'll look for some real 16x8's.

well, because those Toyota wheels really are 16x7 and they would require wheel spacers to work, I'm just going to go with a set of $50 black steel wheels like these:
