Need a Spot
You should have only a little trouble installing the new wheels. The fit might be a little tight, though.

Not entirely sure about those wheels in particular, but I do know the stock 16"x7"jj alloys that came on the later T-100's were 4-5/8" backspacing - same as on the '96-'02 4runners as well... I'd be surprised to see that change all that much... Highly doubt they're out as far as 3.5". Where you're going to experience the major variance is on the mounting surface of the hub itself; That's why the center caps will be a hit-or-miss. Taco's & Tundra's should be real close, if not exactly the same.

As for clearance with the BJ spacer, you won't have an issue with any of the 16" wheels - only the 15" offerings from Toyota... I run a 12.5" wide tire on 15"x8" with 4" backspacing - 0 clearance problems with the calipers or drums. Fwiw, don't bother trying to find a steel 15"x8" that will fit - it doesn't exist. Caliper clearance issue every time.

You're referring to the tires, right?

If you don't need flash, the black steel 15x8s from AR never gave me trouble. 3.5" BS, not 4"; maybe it's in that number?

Getting the Wheeling Fever
Well....I've got my BJ spacers on and rear Downey Rubicon lift shackles. The shackles didn't lift the rear more than an inch or so, I can barely tell a difference.

I had to custom order custom 16x8 black rockcrawler steel wheels from Discount Tire in 4 1/8" offset, only $64 each! I'll be running Nitto Terra Grapplers in either 285/75 or possibly 305/75.

Anyone think that 305's will be too wide to fit? Will they rub? While both 285's and 305's are actually 32.6" tall, I've been thinking about going with a true 33" tire, but I'm worried that 33's won't fit. Front looks like it has tons of room now with the lift and 31x10.5 on 15x8 that stick out an inch or two from the fenders.

Any input? I'll be sure to post pics when I get the wheels/tires next week.

T100's came with 15" wheels in until ~97. And they didn't change anything after that that would affect clearance, AFAIK.

My 15x8 alloys and 15x8 steel spare have no clearance problems whatsoever.

I have 265's on 02 Tundra alloy rims, (93 4x4 t100) no back spacing needed. Just barely fit w/o mods. When crud builds up on the mud flaps, tight turns scrub the crud off. Only down side is that road crud now gets thrown up onto the outer body that would normally remain underneath. Kind of neat to see clods of mud flying 8 feet up next to your windows......

Sorry, there was supposed to be a 'with 4" or greater backspacing...' in there as well... Haven't found any luck in the aftermarket, personally.

Erik - Your stock 15" spare is 8" wide? I thought all the steel 15" from the factory were 7"...

No, my stock spare was 16x7 (steel) that matched my factory alloys. I was saying all my current wheels and spare are 15x8 steel/alloy and all fit. They're all around 3.5-3.75" backspacing though.

I've tried to mount 3 different steelies in the 4-4.25 range & got no love... I know Rock Crawlers were one of them. Didn't want to go with more offset - wanted the tires tucked more so I didn't have to put on fender flares (which I've had a set of Bushwhackers for 4 years now, collecting dust in garage after garage). I've only found aluminum to fit which doesn't make much sense, since they're considerably thicker to make up for the difference in strength. Got lucky with the set of aluminum wheels I have now - Ebay impulse buy that actually worked out!
