When replacing the lower bearings make sure the bearing-cap area is clean and dry! No oil between them.
The screen is usually a pressure fit. When I remove one I always drill and tap the pump and install a bolt to hold it tight again. Making sure to not introduce filings into the pump. I don't trust second pressure fits.
If you do replace the pump you should PRIME it before startup.
