I was scraping up tile yesterday on my day off, and slipped with the scraper...needless to say, scraping tile off concrete slab puts QUITE the edge on the tool...

Now, I'm sitting here with 4 cm x 1 cm laceration on my left hand, from the last knuckle of my ring finger down the front it. 5 stitches in the meat, 7 in the skin.

Only took 6 hours in the ER...I'm all about helping other people with more serious stuff , since I wasn't gushing blood everywhere, but there's got to be a limit...once I saw the helicopter take off though, I knew I should get comfortable. Turns out 12 trauma cases came in from a bad wreck on 81.

I'm curious if anyone here has expereince with the Tuff Coat gloves...I've used thicker kevlar butchers gloves in my meat shoppe days and for field dressing deer. These look more tactile...

I just wear leather, keeps your hands from getting sweaty.

I have a fight last year with a jig saw. The jig saw won. Looks like you did me one better, I only had 4 in the meat and 3 in the skin I went to the ER, the wait was to long so I went to "Doc in the box" urgent care and they fixed me right up.

In Roanoke, I'm lucky the ER is open past 9...yet alone urgent cares...most of those around here are just 8-5, and run by the hospital groups. Its wierd.

Sad thing is, I'm a lefty, and not afraid to superglue up cuts, or do some home sewing...but right handed...forget it!!!

I don't think I've ever had stitches in the meat. I'm starting to get the 'day after' stiffness...wow.

My doc gave me this stuff called Ultracet? It was a mix of motrin and synthetic morphine, takes your pain waaaaay

Funny, for months after it was healed it was super sensitive to metal. It was like my finger had memory and didn't like the feeling. Get prepared for the interesting feeling when they pull the skin stitches out

Lol- this ain't my first rodeo regarding stitches and my hands!

I gotta say one thing- this cut sure hurts a heck of a lot less than the ones I've gotten from teeth throughout the years...and my insurance co-pay was a heck of a lot less then those 'teeth payments' ever were.

On a serious note, these gloves a pair are worth about 5 bucks at the most. They are a thin cotton glove with a coating of rubber on the palms and fingers. Useless for safety protection, strictly for grip. We sell them at the company I work for. All made in China and come in different colours. They are all the same S..T but different pile.

I disagree with that statement. I work at Grainger and the ones we have are made from kevlar. The rubber coating is for grip, and the gloves are cut resistant. I think they would work great for your application. I'll try some out at work tomorrow and let you know.

Product info says 100% Kevlar, and this exact model is in our rulebook as approved cut and slash resistant hand protection...seeing how as we've won the award for safest railroad for the past 17 years, we've got a pretty top notch safety department.

I was just curious if anyone had ever experienced a thinner Kevlar mitt...I've only used the thicker meat prep variety.

Thanks! Do you all sell that exact brand?

Don't want anybody to be misinformed. Ultracet is a combination of the drug "Tramadol" and Acetaminophen or "Tylenol". There is no morphine nor motrin. Ultracet is not in the narcotic class like morphine is nor is is in the NSAID class like motrin. It is used for mild to moderate pain, just not the way mentioned above.
