whats a good Dzl to swap into a 1991 3.0 montero LS? When my 3.o gas gives up? Anything I can buy over in Japan or Philippines and have shipped? I get a 75% discount on Fedex if I take it to the airport and travel frequently to Philippines.

I picked up all of the parts today and bought the '87 Montero for the swap. It's a 2.6 5 speed with sunroof, headlight washers and LSD rear. I have the title in hand.

The next post to this thread should have pics of the first phase of the engine swap.

Stay tuned!

Roll Me Over
The diesel swap started phase I on Memorial Day weekend. We prepped the 2.6 gas engine for removal Friday afternoon and pulled it on Saturday.

Tomorrow, I'm prepping the Ranger engine and will get it ready to be pulled soon. The bottom is sealed in polymerized vegoil so it's going to be really fun crawling under and unbolting the bellhousing!

Stay Tuned!

P.S. - A special thank you to Fasteddy for taking my two calls Saturday when we got stuck and were looking for a seasoned vets words of wisdom!

Need a Spot
I have a power ram 50 with the 4d55t motor that I want to put into my 84 bronco 2( gas 2.8 v-6 broke the timing chain yesterday)... if I buy the ranger motor mounts for d55t at the parts store... will it allow me to bolt the motor in? or do I have to change mounts on the frame? if so...does anyone have some of these mounts that they would be willing to sell/part with? can I remove the bellhousing from the d50 trans and bolt it to the ranger/bronco 5 speed trans? I think they are the same trans... anyone have any other suggestions for the swap?
thanks for your input! I'm a new member to this board.
when it's done I'll post the results with digital pics.

85 VW rabbit "caddy" diesel pickup
84 Bronco II... soon to be implanted with a Mitsu 4d55t heart!
all going to run on SVO or biodiesel!

So I got staretd ripping and stripping for my diesel swap earlier this week. Decided to start on the ranger first.

Sorry for the image sizes, forgot to resize before uploading 'em.....

I've kind of started to worry about wiring the various systems I will need (glow plugs, fuel pump relay, a/c) as wiring is far from being a strong point for me. Can anyone who has done this before share their solution(s)?

Hoping to start pulling the 2.6 out of the truck this weekend, I'll continue to post on my progress.
