More work on the diesel swap today. I took apart the brackets holding up the vacuum pump to uncover and remove the last Ranger motor mount bracket. I put in two 3/8" washers as a spacer and reassembled the brackets. I ran a tap in the Montero mounting holes in the block and mounted both Montero motor mount brackets on the block. I also ran a tap through the fan pulley bolt holes on the water pump. Two of the four holes were not tapped properly but are clean now.

I'll post some pics when I get a chance. Here's a list of a few of the next steps:

1. Remove oil cooler connectors and find replacements. I think I will re-plumb an oil cooler before I'm done.
2. Mark the front of the power steering hose and remove it from the power steering pump. Mark the front of the power steering hose on the Montero and take both pieces to a hose fabrication shop
3. Remove crank pulley and replace broken timing covers. Check timing belts and tensioners for wear.

I'm going to do most of the seals while the engine is out including the rear main seal.

A few more weeks and the motor will be going in for a test run! I hope to have the motor running by the end of June.
