I have talked to others who have used the 22RE fuel tank as is. I was told that an engine mounted fuel pump will pull fuel right through an idle electric fuel pump. If true it means all you need to do is modify (extend) the fuel line in the engine compartment.

The EFI electric pump puts out a constant 56psi(i'm 90% sure thats the correct #). The mechanical pump puts out 4-7psi depending on engine RPM. Anymore than 7psi going into a carb and you got problems.. Theoretically you could put a fuel pressure regulator on the EFI pump, but thats a lotta pressure to regulate down to 4psi and when I tried it the line kept blowing off even when clamped.

If you want to use a carburetor, as well as the fuel pump swap, you gotta run three ign triggered wires to the carb.. one (+) for choke two (+/-) for idle cut solenoid. And thats your carbinated wiring harness I love it, three wires - carbs are so fun and simple
