I'm buying Hella Vision Plus or the H4 kit from www.roundeye.com. I've read a lot of positive feedback about the Hellas on the board but very little about roundeyes. Any opinions or experience with the roundeyes alone or compared to another brand are welcomed. I'm going to buy within the week, sooner if this thread reveals anything interesting. Cibie is out of the question-too much money. I've already got a harness from Roger and 55/100 bulbs to install.

Thanks for the info.

There was a thread recently on the Pirate4x4 forum about the Roundeyes lamp housings. Basically comes down to two things as to which to get. If you want DOT approved,(like the Hellas) then whatever costs the least is probably best. If you go non-DOT, then you can get different beam patterns, etc.

I don't really care of they meet DOT guidelines or not. What I DO care about is not blinding oncoming traffic on low beams yet still provided a substantial improvement in lighting over the stock units. On high beam all bets are off. I want to be able to melt the snow in front of me and be seen from the moon. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/lol.gif" alt="" /> I'll have to check out pirate and see if I can track down the thread. Thanks Roger.

Roll Me Over
I have the Roundeyes lights. They are DOT approved. They throw a good pattern and do not blind oncoming traffic (once I adjusted them).

Getting the Wheeling Fever
I bought the ebay knock off version for my 92.They are made by autopal and they look very stock except for the e code marking{non dot}.I went 55/110.Half the price of hella and quality is pretty good.Beam is amazing,with a nice square cutoff.The higher wattage has helped me put off Lasik for at least another 6 months.I am happy enough to have started buying autopal for all of my sealed beam cars{still got some antiques on my roster!}

I couldn't find the thread on Pirate4x4. What did they have to say about the housings on the roundeye headlights?

Took me one second to find:
- http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/search.php?searchid=632993

Searched for title="Roundeyes" in the Toyota Truck forum.

Now I feel really stupid. I couldn't find a search feature. To top it off, Pirate won't let me use the link. It says I don't have permission. Perhaps I should go ask my mother if I can check out the website. I've been a member for years but never go there.

Don't you have to be a paying member of pirate in order to use their search feature?

Need a Spot
I have an H4 conversion made by pilot. I bought it at kragen for 40 plus the bulbs. cost me about 60 bucks and it's DOT legal and I'm real happy so far with them.
