We shouldn't be surprised that the assault ban wouldn't be revisited. Most of us had the following statements come out of our mouths once it was lifted:
"Buy 'em while you can get 'em."

Those 40 reasons are so true. I wonder how people can be so dumb as to not see this stuff and think that their gun bans work. I cross the line between laughing and gettin mad when I think about it. I do think that there needs to be at least some sort of gun control but nothin like what we have had and do have. The laws now only hurt the honest people. Criminals are criminals because they break the law so what makes one think that they will not break gun laws. grrr...

Really I think it all boils down to this: 27. Most people can't be trusted, so we should have laws against guns, which most people will abide by because they can be trusted. Which brings me back to this wonderful quote: ôHow a politician stands on the Second Amendment tells you how he or she views you as an individualà as a trustworthy and productive citizen, or as part of an unruly crowd that needs to be lorded over, controlled, supervised, and taken care of.ö Rep. Guns dont kill people. Crazy motherf#%$ers with guns kill people.
A gun is just a tool, it cant be blamed for murder. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />

I tried to find it but couldn't. I was told by a police officer that the leading murder weapon in 2006 was a.............Baseball bat.
That just proves that people are going to kill people when they are messed up in the head. A gun just gives them a more effective tool.

According to FBI statistics guns account for 60-70% of murders. Maybe you have a lot baseball fans in your city.
The US is violent, we average 10,000 murders by guns per year compared to other countries. Almost 80% of that is thug on thug violence, 16-25 year old males.
Work on social programs and anti-gang programs. Don't take guns away from the VAST majority of honest hard working Americans.
