The first reaction is to try to hide, get as small as possible, the 2nd reaction is just plain mad.

I see nothing wrong with people owning firearms for sport.

But the one reason I see for public ownership of firearms is one day it just may fall on the citizens to protect this Nation.

As past events and now recent have shown, it becomes a very difficult task to take over and overwhelm an armed population.

If anyone were to try it here, just think of what happens when they run into some mad farmers with shotguns.

It would be nice for there to be no other reason than sport, but for that to happen, we would need to eliminate the criminal element, or those that thirst for power.

I doubt I shall live to see such a utopia, so my home is armed. I think I have fired off perhaps 2 dozens shots in the last decade, and that was at beer cans. I didn't miss, either.

But I will keep my firearms just in case.
